Long Lake Trail
Long Lake Trail #5 is 1.8 mile, easy hike around the shore through a dirt path and multiple talus slopes. The gentle trail around the lake has only a 30-foot elevation change overall. Parts of the trail can be slippery when wet. A good walking stick would be advisable. Long Lake is a popular fishing spot, fly fishing only, no motorized boats. You can also fish from many places along the trail. Fry-planted Cutthroat Trout should yield some 9-17-inch catches, especially by fall. Beavers, loons and other wildlife can often be observed around the lake. Parking is available at the boat launch parking lot, or if you’re staying at the campground nearby. Both ends of the trail are accessible near site #5 in the campground.
