Crowell Ridge Trail
Located in the Salmo-Priest Wilderness, this is one of the best ridge hikes in the Selkirk Mountains. You’ll need a high-clearance vehicle to take the rough forest service road to the trailhead on Sullivan Mountain, but you would have gained over 6000 ft in elevation on the way. The trail embarks on a mostly clear ridgeline, with spectacular views. Summer brings a profusion of flowers and berries but also Grizzly Bears. These trails are only lightly used. Check in at the Sullivan Lake Ranger Station for trail closures and other advice.
