Columbia Mountain Loop Trail

To access the Columbia Mountain Loop Trail, you’ll head out a couple of miles on the Kettle Crest Trail #13 North, the trailhead is located at the Sherman Pass parking area. This popular trail will take you up through pine and aspen forest, and provides expansive views of the surrounding mountains, as well as wildflowers as you venture through the mountain meadows. The Columbia Loop Trail will peel of to the east and begin a 2.3 mile circle around the mountain. When you arrive at the summit, you’ll get to explore a refurbished lookout tower, which happens to be one of the oldest in the state. This is also a great trail to snowshoe! Camping is allowed here, but no fires are permitted in or near the lookout structure.
