This is an easy one-mile trail that connects to the Taylor Ridge Trail, the  Kettle Crest North National Recreation Trail #13, and Deer Creek Summit South Loop Trail #43. 

Long Alec was a tall Native American who owned a store in Curlew. He also acted as the defacto sheriff for the area. In 1883, General Tecumseh Sherman and his boundary-negotiating party came down off of the Kettle Crest and into the town of Curlew by way of what is now Boulder Pass, then called Deadman Creek.
