Meadow Creek Trail #125

There is something for everyone at Big Meadow Lake on the Colville National Forest, including several easy hiking options. The trail head for the Meadow Creek Trail can be found just to the west of the first parking area as you enter the Big Meadow Campground. You’ll see a vault toilet and notice that this is where the boat launch for Big Meadow Lake is, and a few campsites.

Almost a mile of the Meadow Creek Trail is paved, winds through some beautiful meadows, and takes you to a lookout tower that was moved here years ago. The tower provides a great spot to look for wildlife. A short, unpaved spur trail takes you to the Hess Cabin day-use area, featuring a replica of a homestead.

Hikers looking for a longer loop can connect to the Big Meadow Lakeshore Trail, that circumvents the entire lake. This is another easy, relatively flat trail to enjoy.
