McDowell Marsh
Educational Trail

The McDowell Marsh Environmental Education Trail is a 1.2 mile loop that starts at River Camp on the Little Pend Oreille National Wildlife Refuge. The first half of the trail is primarily a compacted gravel surface and is  wheelchair accessible. The easy trail meanders through some forest, and then leads to a boardwalk that spans a wetland. A little further along, the trail takes you to a neat bird-watching blind, that is a really a little cabin with strategically-placed windows that allow you to view the wildlife. The accessible trail continues around the Marsh to McDowell Lake. At this point the trail narrows and gains elevation as it goes through a forested area.
